Who is out?
Boating in the midwest or any place else that has seasons it is that time of the year. Putting your baby away for the season.
I know I get overwhelmed with putting away our boat. I would have liked to be out by now but not in the cards yet at our marina.
Hopefully next weekend it gets hauled out, the bottom power washed and put on its trailer so I can shrink wrap it and put it away for another season.
How is everybody else doing?
Any boat elevator rides yet?
Roger

I am, quite sadly, out for the year. Cleaned, winterized and stored for the year. Worst time of the year.
Stupid MN weather.

"elevator rides" LOL!! We rode the elevator September 22nd. Washed and unloaded. The following weekend was crap. The weekend of Oct. 6th we winterized her and shrank wrapped her. I have to go back this weekend to clean a few bilges, double check that everything is done, and take the drive off and bring it home.

I am out as of Saturday. Changed oil and filter, fuel filter, new thermo and gasket, drive oil change and filled it up with the pink stuff. Then drove it 500 yards to the indoor storage building where she will sit until April 1.
So sad

I'll be going out fishing between now and Thankgiving. I winterize that weekend and bring her back to life the second week of February.

Ours is out and winterized. She'll be going into storage this week. Doing the final preps now. Hopefully with our upstate NY weather I can have her back in late April or early May.

Glad to hear from all us seasonal boaters.... Its looking like by the time our boat gets hauled out I could be dealing with november weather......
We have had 70 degree weather here in the midwest this week. Down to the highs in the middle 50's this weekend...

Just got in from 6 days on Lake Powell.
Never a nite below 50deg and never a day over 75
And did a mention the horrific winds, gusting clear to 5mph

Beautiful picture! Powell is on my bucket list. I am winterized and sitting in the driveway. I am wanting to get it polished up before taking to indoor storage, but it's looking like I will have to save that for spring.

I'll third that, wait is that even a word?
So Powell is in my future! I have been there once just for a day and it was beautiful. We are planning to do a large family vacation there next October. Plan on getting a large houseboat and maybe some jetskis and a bowrider for fun. Have not decided on anything just yet but was looking to go out of Wahweap, Bullfrog or Antelope Point. Any advice you can offer for that time of year and best places to visit? This will probably influence where we launch from if everything good to see is on one end

Not us, we are only out in August...too hot. We boat from Sept - July. Eleven out of Twelve isn't bad. We only missed 4 weekends of the past 60 weeks.

Everything good to see is all along the 190 mile long lake
Wahweap and Antelope Point are in the Southern end, both are good, Antelope is Very nice and slightly more expensive.
Oct. is a great time, water is still around 70 but weather is generally nice.
Too many destinations to list, theres not a bad canyon on the lake.
I would opt for the Southern end and bring a BIG checkbook!!

I pulled her out this past Tuesday to have the bottom repainted, pull both shafts and ship them off to be restraightened and replace the transom anode. Hopefully she'll be back in the water in two weeks and we'll be back to our normal weekends on the water.

Hoping to go out for final ride Friday 26th then pull her Sat. morning and get her somewhat prepped for the big ass winds that are expected here for Mon-Tuesday from "Sandy". Full winterizing by the following weekend and she'll be ready for what seems like an eternity of sitting in the driveway. Sometimes I think I would be happier if she was in a storage lot but they tend to be too restricting in visitation.
Stay warm my friends,
ccruser1

Took boat out today here in Long Island, NY since tropical storm Sandy will hit here Monday/Tuesday. At this point, it wasn't worth it to put it back in, so started winterizing my boat. Another season over. Time to fix things now.

Unfortunately I'm still in the Hudson River. With Hurricane Sandy barreling in I couldn't get out in time. I double tied lines and did all I could so we'll see if I'm still floating Wednesday...
