Default What's under the carpet?

I've got a question about the deck on a 1998 Maxum 1900SR. I pulled the carpet out and am planning to paint the deck with Interlux deck paint and then put down some Kiwi Grip. My question is about the type of surface under the carpet glue. It's hard to see through all that old glue and I don't know anything about the boat building process or materials. I can tell that it's a wood deck with some kind of coating on it. It looks like thick polyurethane or maybe the fiberglass gel coat. The reason I'm asking is because I don't want to use anything to get this glue off that is going to damage the deck. Thanks for any help. Looking at the ski locker cover, it just looks like polyurethane.

Should be marine plywood with either figerglass resin or one layer of fiberglass.

Okay, it must be just the resin. That would be clear and thicker than polyurethane, correct?
