Default What are your plans for memorial day weekend

well...here in the US a holiday is coming up...next weekend is Memorial day weekend...we're cutting out of work at our normal time of 3:30..running home and having the boat tossed in the water..I have a friend of ours join us...(hope she can handle boredom )
once under way we have 3 hrs to get to the san juans via deception pass..
then take a heading of 270 and cross over to lopez pass.....once into the protected waters in the san juans...it should be smooooth sailing straight up to the marina...our final destination is blakely island marina in the san juans...a small little island that is pretty remote......wonderful marina and general store that has fresh donuts in the morning and free wifi....just awesome....we try to make it there once a yr at least...

so...what are your plans for the memorial weekend???.....

let us know

We have a graduation party on Saturday but may spend Sunday into Monday in Capy May camping and boating. Depending on the weather outlook of course.

Hoping to get down to Panama City, FL, to put in at Tyndall AFB. They have a nice marina club on the bay side, with activities planned all day. Wet slip right outside the club. Hoping for good weather!

hawkip, do you plan to boat in St. Andrews Bay or do you venture 'offshore' into the Gulf? I too am familiar with Tyndall. I was stationed there 'many years ago' and before I moved back to the PacNW. I 'picked up' a souvenir (my wife ) from the local area so I have a reason to visit often. I will be back there late June.

Our Memorial weekend consists of camping in south Seattle. More specific, camping in the courtyard of the Marriot 8)

Sorry seapuppy, family events will keep me from venturing up your way for that beer!

Depending on sea conditions, we will try and venture out in our 24through the pass, then head east to anchor out south of Shell Island for the day. If it is too rough to drop the anchor, we will head back to the bayside, and drop the hook there. Rain in the forecast, but we are headed down anyway.
They have the usual activities planned for Saturday, and having the slip right there is perfect.

I still have my 19' Bayliner Cuddy I bought from Olympic Boat Center in Olympia, and we have many hours logged on the Puget Sound. My kids still remember the sea lions, the bald eagles, and the COOLD water.

This weekend is the post-winter get the boat in the water. We're planning on launching in Everett then maybe cruise around a bit.

Last time the boat saw water was a weekend trip to Friday Harbor last October.

Tomorrow begins the de-winterizing project

Thanks for the offer Seapuppy. I think we're going to go south. Taking my mother-in-law for her first ride in the boat and she wanted to see Seattle from the water. Maybe hit Edmonds for lunch.

Good to know it's about 3 hours from Everett to Blakely. We'll have to check it out sometime.

Our first Puget Sound trip we launched in Anacortes and went to Friday Harbor. Only took about 20 minutes. Too short of a cruise!
