Default Westerbeke Generator

My Westerbeke gas generator ran out of gas on my 1998 Maxum 3200 even though my fuel gauge read over a quarter full. I topped off the fuel and the generator will turn over but still no start. Does it need to be primed or bleed or something to get it to run.

Thanks

That should be carbed... don't think you would need to prime. Is the fuel pump pumping when you hold the preheat switch on? My gen had not been ran in awhile, I very carefully poured a sprinkling of gas down carb and hand choked it. No problems since.

The generator fuel pickup is shorter than the engine fuel pickup. This will prevent you from draining your tank dry with the generator and stranding you on a mooring or in the anchorage. It will allow you to still be able to start the motors and limp to a fuel dock.

Priming and bleeding is a diesel thing. You shouldn't need to prime a gas engine, and there is no way to bleed it.

Fuel, air, spark. Make sure the fuel bowl is filling with fuel. If so, it is not a fuel issue. You might need to take the troubleshoot flow chart and start with that.
