Default New Maxum Owner

Hi to all.

I just got off the Bayliner website ( trying to clean my garage out of my 1993 Bayliner 2655 parts that I had lying around) and thought I would say hi to everyone at the Maxum site. My wife and I just purchased a 2001 Maxum 3000 SCR. The sea trial which was out of St Joesph MI went great.First time on Lake Michigan. The surveyor pasted everything with flying colors. Now I have to wait for my friend to put his boat in the water so I can use his trailer and my other friend to use his big truck. This all will happen in April.

Oh where am I from? Peoria Illinois. we boat on the Illinois River and have a slip at Detweiler Marina so if you are in the neighborhood give me a yell on 16 for Bigger Sea Gar!

Default Another Southern Cal

I am in the High Desert, Victorville area, and do most of my boating on the Colorado River, and locally at Lake Silverwood. This year the wife and I want to stay a couple of weekends in Marina Del Rey. A friend of ours have an apartment overlooking the Marina. Does anyone have there boat in the Marina Del Rey and wouldn't mind taking a group trip to Catalina. I don't want to brave the trip by myself the first time around. I have have a 2001 2400 SCR.

Well chalk up another former Baylinerer stepping into a Maxum!

Just got back from Seattle today where I signed the papers on a 2001 2900 SCR! We're tickled pink .. and delighted at the cross-border advantages (ahem .. currency exchange).

Our last boat was a 2000 Bayliner 1952 cuddy .. and we cruised the heck out of it in the local islands for 7 years. Hoping to get further afield in the Maxum with its greater range and amenities. Ten footitis itch getting scratched, for sure.

She will be moored near were we live(Victoria): in Sidney BC, Canada.

Hey Seapuppy. I think we might have met at the Lopez Rendezvous back in 02(?)!

This boat has the 7.4 single. Kinda wanted twins and a U-lounge in bow, and went down thinking to buy a 28 Chaparral, but that boat was rough. The Maxum is super clean and a fantastic price - really like the huge cockpit. Boat is very basic but has a heat pump for a/c in summer and 2nd heat source in winter. Getting surveyed on Wed, but the sea trial yesterday was great.

sounds like a great boat...if you have the same type of reverse cycle heater and ac..that thing will freeze you right out .....we have the ARRRR system....works great....

hope to meet up with you guys sometime soon...we're heading out on the 4th of july to the canadian gulf isles (pender-poets cove) and over to sidney..then maple bay and brentwood (?)..and a couple of other places......we'll be out for about 8 days....looking forward to getting up and out...hope to see you out there!!...

Hi Everybody,

Just signed up :-)

I'm from Antrim in Northern Ireland. Right on the shores of lough Neagh.

My boat is a 1996 2000SCL. The engine was replaced by the dealer just before we bought it earlier this year. We haven't done enough hours yet for the engine to be "run in" so we're limited to half throttle at the moment. Can't wait until I can open her up full :-)

We live in Northern Virginia. Do our boating on the Potomac River and occasionally the Chesapeake Bay. Unfortunately this has been a worse than normal maintenance year. Major overhaul of the outdrive (gymbal bearing, U-joints, bellows, shift cable, seals, etc) and new starter kept us off the water for over a month (we also got the new Mercathode System installed) and then two weeks ago our alternator went out. I think we're back in seaworthy condition now (knock on wood). The down time did give us the incentive to "fix up" a few non-power related issues - resealed the weatherstripping around the cabin door, put in a new shower sump pump (if you put them in backwards the first time you get a great looking bubbler effect in the shower ), and got the A/C unit (cruiseair) recharged.
