Default Trim indicator "bouncing"

Sunday was the day Endless Summer went into the water, other than the freezing temperatures and snowstorm (what IS going on with this Inland NW weather?) it was great to get back on Lake CDA. My outdrive trim indicator is acting up, though... the needle bounces all over the place. Anyone know what is causing that? The needle has a tendancy to creep up slowly, as though the engine is rising up (which of course it's not). Then I can press the down switch on the trim and the needle jumps back down to where I know the engine truly is.

Faria gauges on a 2001 2900 SCR, single 6.2L with a Bravo III outdrive.

Thanks if anyone knows what the problem is...

It sounds like the Trim Indicator Sender. You're not going to be able to fix that in the water.
