Red face Transam material / build on 2000 Maxum 2800 scr

I am considering buying a 2000 Maxum 2800 scr and it had a tear in the drive shaft bellow. Salt water was getting into the boat... i believe and a slower to manageable rate (if you can call it that).

I am wondering what the transam material / structure is and if this tear and water intrusion may possibly rot out / weaken the transam.

I do believe that the stern drive will need replaced too.
Bravo 3 dual props.
It'll run and move around, but the condition now is poor from the tear and gimbal bearings ruined.

in this aspect, any thoughts on further damage that is typical say to the bell, transam assembly, etc?

Any thoughts would be helpful.

The transom is a wood core. I believe that Maxum sealed ay exposed core material in the cutout for the drive so water should not get into it. None the less a few folks here have had rotten transoms therefore I recommend have it inspected before buying.

Typically a leaking driveshaft bellows results in a bad gimbal bearing and u-joints.

The inner plate of the transom assembly could be rotted away as well. If you look under the engine and see a lot of rust and debris in the back of the bilge, then I'd be very concerned about the transom assembly as well as the transom.
