Default Trailerable Covers?

New to the forum and apologize if this was covered already someplace (I searched to no avail).

Looking to purchase a 1999 3000 SCR later this week located in AZ and will be bringing it back to Montana (where we live). The camping canvas I don’t imagine would handle highway speeds too well so what do you guys use when transporting down the highway?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard! Have you considered shrink wrap?

I considered it but with it being a quick trip I don’t have the time to have it done. I do have an enclosed space at home to store it. More concerned with road grime, snow, etc getting all over cockpit stuff. What is the SOP when hauling them to different places? Just clean it off when you get there (like my old boat)? Do they make low profile snap on covers that are good for going down the road? Buy a sacrificial tarp to be wind whipped on the way home but keep some of the junk out?

Then look into a cockpit cover, one that starts over windshield and ends on the backside of the transom. From previous experience towing my 01 3000 it worked great!

Thank you for the help. This place looks like a wealth of wisdom and experience. I have a feeling I will be coming here a lot.

If you don’t already have a cockpit cover to make this trip I would just make the run without any canvas but be sure to remove all loose material and snap in cushions.

That is a proper cover for long term storage and transport. Notice how the straps are close together and are affixed to the frame of the trailer.

I hope it is a good canvas for storage, especially for rain and wind, the transport will be only once for Greece.
