Default Trailer Inspections

Hi Boaters

I was thinking of things to do in the spring and a trailer inspection is on the list.
Here in Nova Scotia we have to have yearly Inspections which I do not think we should need on new vehicles and trailers. Maybe after three years or so.
What are your laws for inspections where you boat? :?

Paul

In PA, only trailers with a gross vehicle weight of 3,000lbs. or more must be inspected. It is just remarkable that the GVW listed on my trailer registration is exactly 2,995lbs.

In Ontario you need safeties on the truck and trailer if the gross combined weight is over 10,000 lbs. I had to pay for a certificate on my new truck when I got it.

None here in WA.. Heck, they dont even inspect the boat, just mail me another tag every year.. however being a mechanic by trade, I redo the bearings, lights and safety straps every year. Also give the tires a good once over.

In WI they seem happy if you pay for the plates each year. (If you are over 3000lbs)

On the water no notice inspections do happen. However, they are usually provoked by some kind of stupid behavior or a vessel that looks like it needs to be inspected...

I know you weren't trying to be... it usually takes no effort for those who have perfected it... I kid, I kid..

I was talking about the boat inspection, but I guess I should have clarified it.

I am on AD, I dont have much dealing with Oshkosh trucks other than Fire. They are AWESOME! Huge, powerful and loud..

By the way, the thread topic was trailer inspections... so I walked into that one anyways...

I can only imagine the reasons that Wa State would post this information.....
