Default To carpet or not to carpet!

I have carpet for the boat that has never been used (still in the rapping). are there any down sides of keeping the boat carpeted? Like will it get a mildew smell or anything? Is the carpet difficult to clean?

Here are the care instructions for the snap in carpet that came with our Maxum.

R&R Textiles
Care and Cleaning Instructions - Atlantis Carpeting and Genuine Aquamat

-For regular care, vacuum or hose off to prevent soil from becoming embedded and to maintain the carpet color and appearance.

-If the carpet becomes soiled, use a standard carpet cleaner.

-Dry AquaMats face-up or by hanging.

-For AquaMat storage, always roll with carpet facing out, never fold. Do not roll while wet.

We remove everything from the boat after each outing and hang to dry.

We use our carpets- They are snap in and we remove them during winter lay up and clean them before the season starts again.
If you boat gets wet while it is sitting just store them in the cuddy.

Default carpets

we keep our carpets on board and in the sunbridge all the time...when they get dirty..I take them home and spray simple green on them and use a brush to clean the soil out..then spray with water until no more suds..hang to dry...been doin that for about 6 yrs and my carpets always look good.....
you can do all the fancy stuff like carpet cleaners and stuff..but simple green works about as well as anything else I've used....
