Default Throttle question

Hi Guys,
I have a question . What is this thing in the middle of my throttle ? No one can’t give me a straight answer and some have advice me not to touch it , that I don’t need to touch it to go back or forth . I know it sounds like a stupid question , but I would like to know for sure what’s the use of this middle button in my throttle . Thanks in advance for all the comments .

The picture is a little fuzzy but I believe it’s the throttle lock button that should prevent you from moving the throttle lever unless you depress it. While my throttle is different from your this is how mine works. Once out of the neutral position you don’t need to depress the button.

Mine will not allow me to move out of the neutral position without depressing the button even when disengaging the shift mechanism.
