Default Thin Gelcoat?????

I have a 03 3100 that seems to have very, I mean very, thin gel coat in many areas. The starboard side step area, when kneeling to tie up another boat, my knee cracked/indented gelcoat. Around the boarding ladder there was a pin hole in the gel coat, I put my finger against it and now there's a finger tip sized hole. It seems the gelcoat is thin as well as there are honeycomb/ air voids thoughout fiberglass/gelcoat. Anyone else having this issue?
