Default Stupid question: 2300 sc vs 2352 mc??

We recently purchased a boat that was advertised as a 2300sc. The marine surveyor checked and it is actually a 2352 mc. Is there a difference?

Welcome aboard

Badging is really questionable in the marine world. My 2400 SCR has a plac at the helm which states the model as 2455. The boat LOA is 25' 4". Go figure.

I have also seen it the other way. The early Sea Ray 240 Sundance was 23' x".

If you like the boat I would not give it a second thought.

That's what we thought too. Thanks for the advice!

Model Name: 2300 SCR
Serial Number ID: MC

The 2352 & 2455 look like they might be part of the serial number. I don't have a cross-reference for these numbers. They are very much inline with Brunswick numbering conventions as they look like the old Bayliner numbering.

Example:

ABC1234C399

ABC = Manufacturer MIC
1234 = Serial Number
C9 = Date of Manufacture/Certification (March 1999)
99 = Model Year

Maxum MIC's:

BVK; MXK; MXP; MXR: MXY; XNC

Take a look at your HIN. I'll bet the HIN is going to be something like (I don't know the certification date or month and I'm guessing at the plant it was made in).

If it's not in the Model Name and it's not in the VIN, I'm not sure where they came up with 2352 or 2455.
