The flag manufacturer may have made the flag to snap on a post. They might have even advertised that it will work on a light post. Almost assuredly the light post manufacturer DID NOT design the post to have a flag flown from it. I doubt both parties intended that flag to be flown while running at 30 - 40 MPH.
The same goes for VHF antennae. Just because you CAN clip a flag to it, doesn't mean you should. If you choose to, I would strongly suggest doing so only while sitting, not while running. I've lost track of the number of broken VHF antennae I've seen as a result of flying flags.
