Default Stereo Speaker Locations 1800MX

I have a 1800 MX and im trying to figure out where to add some other speakers.
with the design.. its difficult to find a place and not sure about structural issues either

currently it has 2 - 7in at the rear

has anyone added speakers to theirs?

I added pictures of the design if anyone has any thoughts.

The bulkheads in the companion way going into the bow look like the best candidates. Plus they're under the canvas when closed up. Under the bow seating, but that surface doesn't look flat.

I was thinking the same but I was worried about structural integrity.

the front seating is not flat so that's not really an option

I put a pair of 8 inch speakers in the bulkheads under each console. Added a 95 watts per channel amp and it filled the boat with sound. I'd rate it a 7 out of 10 in sound quality.
This was the stock location for my boat though, and yours is different. I have not seen a speaker setup like you describe.
You could put some large speakers under the consoles and let them supply the bass, then have your rear speakers handle the higher freq range. Try crossing them over at 200hz or so then work from there to suit your tastes.

LOL, I was literally about to post the same question..

My 1998 1800SR has two speakers, one under the console and one the other side. Interestingly the boat has wiring for two speakers at the back (running along the sides) already in place just not connected to anything. Additionally the previous owner nicked the radio so all I have is a sony wiring harness

Was considering getting a bracketed rectangular type speaker for each side at the back and point them downwards?

hello Fester,

do you have a picture showing where the additional wirings are? I have 2002 1800 SR and I want to add 2 speakers but wondering where...

I may have these additional wires?

It's doubtful they ran the speaker wiring ahead of time. IF there are not speakers in that location, there are probably not speaker wires. You would need to run them yourself.

Look behind the existing stereo. How many speakers are currently hooked up?

I’ve installed the new stereo in the boat, there are 2 remaining wires on the wiring harness for additional speakers.

I wonder, how to pass the speaker wire completely to the opposite side? with an electrician snake? it has to go through all the way in the nose of the boat?

Sorry.. I hit my outleg last weekend on a rock and am still trying to get over the shock.. Should be at the boat this weekend to take some pics.. Im guessing the tower ones are difficult to mount unless you actually have a wake tower :-).

Im looking at getting a Boss Bluetooth Marine kit .. I think the 4 speakers should fit under the console dash.
