Default Steering wheel help

Hi , I have a 1996 maxum 2400scr. I trying to change my steering wheel and not having any luck. I've sprayed it and let it soak , used a steering wheel puller and tried hitting it with a hammer. Nothing seems to be working. Looks like there is something holding it in place. Am I missing something? Any advice would be great . Thanks

The worst case scenario you'll have to cut it with grinder. Looking at the new wheel might help to gauge where to cut without damaging other elements. If you'll decide going this rode make sure you'll cover near fibergalss. I believe sparks might leave marks on it. Before that I'll try spraying it with freeze off.

Can you tell if it's a splined shaft or tapered with a key? Try heating the wheels hub but not the steering shaft along with a puller.

I believe it's tapered with a key, it has a silver piece with a notch in the side. Is there a tool that I need or does this just come off like I've seen in the videos I've watched?

It should pull right off with a gear puller. Those tapered shafts can provide a lot of holding force after sitting for years. Again heat will help assuming you have the all metal wheel.
