Default Sea trial 3300 SCR

Hi there and greetings from Hong Kong.

I've had an offer accepted on a 2003 3300 with 350 mag engines.

I'm doing the sea trial tomorrow.

Any recommendations for what I should look out for please?

Looking forward to joining the Maxum club if all goes well!

Thanks

Nalin Jay

Welcome aboard

Are you having a boat survey? Well worth the money.

Check for conditions of the engine; oil analysis, compression test, signs of water in the gear lube. Is the hill sound; soft spots in the transom and stringers as these have embedded wood. Test all systems for operation.

Many thanks Mike that is very helpful

Yes I will be. Didn't want to do that until I had at least had a chance to see how she handled at sea.

Bsst regards

Welcome aboard.

Usually a survey is done first then the sea trial.....if the surveyer finds something you may not want to do a sea trial....good luck

Thanks Roger.

I had my usual boat mechanic give the boat a good look over first but he's not a surveyor so will have to do that as well.

Boat belongs to a guy at the same yacht club as me so he's letting me take her out without a deposit which us very good of him.

Welcome aboard.
The boat is in water, right? And they keep it there, right?
After the tst I would pull he out and do a good inspection of everything.
Ask the owner for the boat records.
When it's out I would change the gear oil, clean and repaint the bottom, who know when you have it out again. Just a suggestion.

Thanks Gugi

Yes it is. The Hull and drive are cleaned by a diver weekly. The marine environment here is probably very similar to Florida.

Will do. Thanks.

Sea trial went well. The only concern was the port engine revs jumped around a bit until we left the harbour but then steadied down once we were out of the bay. Not sure what the cause is but hopefully the surveyor will pick it up.

Great boat though. Loved the performance!

Could you hear a change in engine speed? May just be a bouncy tach.

How was the cruise speed. I also have a 3300 3200 rpm. Cruise comfortably at 24\25 knots. 3500 rpm- 29/30 knots. Full gas and water. 2 passengers

Yes seems about right although I was more interested in seeing how she handled waves and making sure everything worked properly!

I'll do a proper assessment once I've got the boat out on my own.
