Radar arch access plate.
Hello all,
I have a 1998 3000 SCR and have two questions.
1. I am missing the access plate in the middle of the radar arch. Any idea where I might find one? I hate to try to make one but will if I have to.
2. On the port side is there an access hole through the underside and up into the radar arch? I am wanting to run an additional line on that side up into the arch.
Any info is appreciated.

welcome to the zoo....I believe the access panels are made of 1/4 thick starboard.....if you go to west marine..they have the starboard panels available..then it's just a matter of making a pattern from the arch and cutting it out of the starboard...

I replaced mine last season after it ejected itself on the way back from Hells Canyon. I replaced it with black acrylic as well as the trim rings around the arch lights. It really udated the look on our older Maxum. Something to consider. Easy to do and the materials can be purchased at Tap Plastics. I had mine done by a CNC shop I do work with. There is a good chance the patterns would match. Let me know and I can have them send you a pattern.

Hunterman, here are a couple of pics of what we did. I replaced my original top a couple of seasons ago and we went with black sunbrella. The black accents have really made the boat look up to date. If it is similar to yours, you can have the pieces cut in any color you want. I have already had it programmed so it should save you some $$. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks Lucky,
Yes those look exactly like mine. I think the black really looks good and would suit me just fine. Fill me in on the details.

Hunterman, I'll call the shop in the morning and see if they still have the programming. If so, I'll put you in touch with them direct.

Bryan,
Just a note. Spoke with them and they are going to fix me up. I appreciate the info & you following up with them after I called. I am getting measurements to make sure everything is the same today.

Bryan,
Just wanted to drop you a note about the install. I got them in and mounted the access plate. When I tried to get the light ring on I broke one of the rings. I contacted them and sent the unused one and my old one and they sent me a new one with no charge or issues. These people are great and the upgrade looks great. Thank you so much for the info!!!

I'm thinking of doing the same, my original white top is getting a few holes and coming unstitched in a few places.
Questions, how do you like the black color, does it radiate heat, or is it high enough you don't notice?
Is Sunbrella the best choice?

Hey guys while I got you here. ........I'm wanting to mount a hailer speaker on the arch. On the starboard side (driver side) where exactly is the opening to the engine room from where the arch attaches to the boat so I can run speaker wire? Any experiences here?
Thanks
Roger

Biggerseagar, I don't think it goes directly into the Engine compartment. On mine, there is an access plate on the arch. When I open it, I can see the opening in the bottom of the arch and the corresponding opening in the gunwale of the boat. This goes down behind the removable 'bulkhead' in the mid-cabin. Behind the locker/removable builkhead is a chase that the cables run in.
I assume the hailer speaker is for the VHF. I'd expect the VHF cable and some others to run down the arch, then behind that panel and up to the helm. I'm not sure why you want to get to the engine compartment. Is this for power? You should be able to run power right off of the 12vdc panel under the dash as well.

Thanks shrew.......I thought you have to go throught the engine compartment, if I don't have to then great. I'll poke around in the mid cabin on my 2001 3000 and see what I can find.
Thanks
Roger

Hunterman, great to hear that Target Plastics squared you away. I have had them do many projects and they always deliver.
Happy Boating.

Roger,
I accessed both sides through the speaker holes. Everything on my 3000SCR goes through on the starboard side. I drilled a hole in the port side to run Seaview antenna that was and easy run foward into electrical panel then foward. On the starboard side I was able to run a fishtape any direction from the speaker hole, into engine compartment and foward to control area.
