Hi, I've recently bought a 2006 maxum 2400sc3 with 350 mag mpi on a bravo 3 leg. Which im concerned the props maybe a little to big for. It is fitted with 26" props. I'm unable to test the boat until I take it the 300 miles to the coast next month and would like to put it in with the correct size on. If any of you guys can help me I've got a bit of time to find a replacement if necessary. Cheers, Sam.
Try using mercruisers prop calculator to see what it suggests, however these are costly props I would try yours first unless the calculator is way different.
What is your Max RPM at Wide Open Throttle? I don't even need to run through the calculator to guess that you are way over propped. however I strongly suggest you start here:
Over propped is relative to what you want to use the boat for, though. I like tall props for long range cruising with lower fuel consumption. Terrible for water sports though.
