Default Prop Question

I bought a 2000 Maxum 19' last year. This year was the first year we decided to try and water ski from the boat. I got the 4.3L engine which should handle skiing. Pulling the tube has been no problem but I am having problems pulling skiiers up. I can barely get a person on two skis up (I have to firewall the throttle until they are up) and tried a slolam skiier and can't pull them up. I talked to some friends and they recommended that if I had a 21 pitch prop to drop down to a 19 which would give me better hole performance and should correct this. I looked on my boat and to my suprise there is a 23 pitch prop on there now so I would definitely say that's my problem. My question is should I just go from a 23 to a 21 or from a 23 to a 19?

I'd try to going down to 21 first....that should really give you a great hole shot...if you have al. prop...go to a stainelss steel. ...less flex and more thrust...

welcome to the zoo and congrats on the new boat!!..

I have a 19ft SR With a 4.3 and I have a 4 blade variable pitch prop, at the moment I've got it set at 21" and it seems to pull anything fine

I've just brought a 21" stainless so I'll post up when I've had a go with that
