Default Outdrive replacement. Neutral or FWD?

Love this forum.

Putting my bravo 2 back on after bellows. Does it need to be in neutral or FWD to get the shift cable back in? I have read both. Does anyone have experience and know the correct answer?

Thank you

For all Bravos the gear shift should be in neutral when both removing and installing the drive. For Alpha drives it’s forward.
