I have a 2001 2100sc which has been great. While I was out over the 4th of July someone broke the latch to get into the middle compartment which is just a regular sand color or cream color latch. I have tried two different aftermarket latches which did not work out or work. What am I missing and where do I buy maxum parts? Local shops?

Have you tried http://www.maxumcustomercare.com/catalogs_index.html ? Click on the year and then your boat on the left. Scroll down to 'deck hardware' for example. The latch is part # 1693470, but I don't know your boat...just giving an example.
