WELL...we made it...we got to the boat and a few minutes later our new mate showed up to load their boat..but....they forgot the keys to the boat....so...we launched our boat at dagmars while tony and his wife went home to get thier boat keys....
we got underway and made a nice trip to Kingston marina...the winds kicked up a hair and we had to dodge the cruise ships...but other than that ...it was nice trip..
Tony and Kim showed up with thier new 340 bayliner and docked like he knew what he was doing with that axius drive...we enjoyed great pizza we had delivered and yacked till it was late...
had a great nites sleep and woke up to the farmers market up at the port....found a great model of admiralty head ligthouse...not big or lighted but it's one we haven't gotten..

marsha is cooking breakfast...while I'm making a log entry...more to come later..

yesterday we all had a great time together...up on shore the marina had a farmers market going on during the day...weather was about as perfect as you can get.....we had salmon for lunch as a pot luck between us two boaters....tony and kim are having a great time commissioning their new 340..he was able to get the new name put on the transom of his new boat...
later we had all gotten together and walked up to bela luna italian restaurant for dinner..excellent food there...
we all walked back to the boats where tony and kim started talking to a blow boater, and ended up showing them his new boat....funny..our boats are almost identical .....yet they stayed on tony's new boat..mine's old hat now!!..hahaha...
woke up this morning to rain, winds.....it's supposed to lay down by this afternoon...I sure hope so...marsha isn't going to let me head out unless it does...
well..gonna be a long day...

Could you believe that weather yesterday around here?? What a change.

I woke up this morning and heard the rain pouring and wind - couldn't help but think about you guys. Looking at the marine forecast, I think you've got the right plan. It's likely to be a following sea, at least at this point.

WELL!!..we're home...we got underway about 8:30 when the winds died down and the tide was at slack..water calmed down quite a bit ..we still had a little wind chop but nothing big....we made good time...stopped off at everett 12th st basin to pump out......like you jim..he didn't have any idea how to use the J dock pump outs...I showed him how to do it with that fitting I got and they were both happy campers....
coming into dags the river and winds were heading out pretty good and blew us both into opposite dock as the office...Tony has that axius drive and he's still learning how to use it...it's impressive....but still when your dealing with winds and river currents....it can get pretty crazy..I'm thinkin he should have just used the drives instead of the axius....
we got the boats put away and we came home ..I'm going to take a shower now and then head back to the boat to clean it and get her prepped for the next time..
surprisingly ...the only major issue we had was with dodging all the boaters fishing down near shipwreck point!.

I have yet to see that axius drive in action. Sounds really cool, but yeah - Dags can be a trick in docking with a heavy wind AND current. I'm glad to hear the return trip went well.

Heh - we used the 12th street pumpout when we came back last time from the SJ's. No muss, no fuss. It was great. Thanks again!

axius is way cool...but I'm not sure how effective it is in a high wind/current like we get ...but docking at kingston was a snap for him....like you ..mine's a controlled crash each time...so his was just like driving a huge boat....and he made it look easy...

just got back from the boat, tony was there getting his boat washed and rigged....so...everybody had a good time...sorry you didn't join us for the weekend in kingston...

yeah, we were lamenting our choice to recover here at home yesterday afternoon, no doubt. Beautiful. Today, both of us are feeling markedly better, so it was likely the right decision at least.

We helped a guy and his wife dock up at Fishermans Bay this summer. 50 footer with her on the rear deck holding both ends of a line and smiling... him standing on the bow with a little remote control in his hand that powered the bow/aft thrusters. He managed to hit the dock harder than I've ever seen after the third attempt. No current, little wind. Technology is nice, but nothing beats practice, practice practice.

So, any pics?
