Default New owner of 3300scr

Hi All We are just buying a 2000 Maxum 3300 SCR it has 7.4 mpi with bravo 3 drives with 232 hrs on it. We cant wait to get it in the water. This is our first Cruiser so we have a lot of learning ahead of us, so slow and steady I guess.

Good for you! We bought a 2800 last year and love it. I've owned 18'-20' center counsoles before this so it was a big step up. You'll be amazed how quickly you become comfortable with the boat.
This is a great board for information and advice. there are a lot of knowledgeable people here to help with anything you can think of.
enjoy.

We're looking at a 1999 3300scr also. Has everything but the gen set. The guy has done all the maintenance religiously. We have a 24ft right now that's getting too small for the 5 of us so really looking forward to bigger roomier cruiser.

Mkl101,

Welcome and let me say I'm a bit jealous, we have a 3000scr that has been very good to us, but...I long for just a tiny bit more beam. Where are you located? What type of boating are you looking forward to?

We're in northwest Indiana and dock on in portage Indiana. Always boat on lake Michigan. Like spending days at the Bailey warm water discharge 80+ degree water when there discharging. Was looking forward to this boat to spend nights out there and at the marina. Our marina has a lot of nice amenities and our current 24' boat would be too small to sleep on with 5 of us. Anyone on here boat in our area?

We also had issue with finance company not wanting to do more than 33k on this boat. Understandable considering it only books for 35k with all add-ons. I thought this was really low. This guy wants 40k for it talked down from 47k. He's got new canvas on it gone through the drives put about $1500 on maintenance in them. Also has auto pilot he claims was pretty pricey.

I am in the process of buying a 2002 3300SCR Maxum. I just bought my 3100SCR last year and decided I should have bought the 33ft in the first place. This is my 5th Maxum. Love them all. Can't figure out 1999 30scr measures 33 1/2 oal, 2003 31scr measure 30ft 9", 33scr measures 36ft. Where do they get these measurements?

go for it. this will be my first full season I just love this boat. I have the 5.7 twins plenty of power. make sure you check and see if you have a drain plug I don't have one in mine . Check the forward bilge compartment for water it is in the aft cabin on the floor I think the ac drains there. Good luck

Are you talking about the drain plug on the bottom of the transom? Are you also talking about the aft cabin bilge? AC is under stairs. Anything else to look for? This boat has twin Bravo III and 5.7 engine. He said he had the boat up to 50mph once. I'm hoping for 45MPH. Then I know I can cruise at 30MPH It also has thrusters in the bow. Can you believe it, thrusters, but no windless.

I'm at the Hammond Marina. Last year I was at East Chicago. I love boaters beach, good times. I'm usually there or Wells. Marina Shores Marina is very nice too

yes to the plug and yes to the ac under the steps but I think the condensation from the ac drains in to the forward bilge in aft cabin. check on the floor their will be a small panel .all so check the floor for soft spot. I have the windless but no bow thrusters.

yes to the drain and yes to the ac under steps but I think the ac drain into the forward bilge it is located in the aft cabin so check the floor for soft spot . I have the windless but no bow thrusters . I have had it up to 40 no problems fast enough for me no need for speed hear . not really any other problems . the 5.7 are the way to go a good motor everybody says stay away from the 454 too many problems . does it have a generator ? port side rear seat bad design the way it attaches.

Thank you for all the info. I will keep in touch after survey. I will also look for the things you've mentioned. Port side seats were bad design in my 31. They had to slide to take out and to get in engine compartment. Will look at that also.

Had survey done. I have a drain in the aft transom. Also checked out air con drain area. it drains into shower drain and pumps out when full. Did have problems with outdrive. Gimbal housing appears bad. Seller agreed to split the cost including all new boots. Survey said the boat is worth $74,800 if everything was done. I think he is crazy. A 2002 3300scr is probably worth about $58000 if excellent condition. My opinion. Your thoughts? I'm $47500 after $2500 allowance for the Gimbal Housings. I'm looking at $4500-$5000 to repair

I think you got a good deal.
Surveyor seems a little high however your number is a typical number.
