Default Need seat skins? Go to Canvas Plus!!

After the last 2.5 years of the Florida sun plus using the wrong cleaners on the seats of my 2008 1800MX, I had to break down and do something about the seat skins. I remembered and article from way back (I bought the boat new in 2008) about a company that has the patterns for the original seats so I reached out to Canvas Plus in Arlington, WA. I had expected to say "send them in white and gray" and for them to arrive a few weeks later but instead they sent some material samples for me to pick from and less than two weeks later I had my new seat skins delivered to the house.

I'm gonna be honest and say that the installation wasn't the easiest thing I've done, especially on the bucket seat, but the new skins fit absolutely perfectly and are EXACTLY like the originals, except that they're two tone (my OEM were all white) and NOT TORN. Oh, and the material is soft and doesn't scratch your legs when you sit on it.

Anyhow, I can't say enough good things about Canvas Plus. I don't know that they have a website but if you email or search for canplus@aol.com you'll come up with a phone number or any information you need.

I definitely HIGHLY recommend them!

FYI, Don't forget to use Stainless Steel staples when you mount the skins. Standard staples will rust and weep rust stains fairly quickly.

When everone says skins are we talking about a premade cover where we remove the old cover on the cushions and install the new skins or lets say covers on the existing cushions

Thanks Mark

Yep and as shrew pointed out the skins get stapled to the plywood seat bases.

The entire vinyl upholstery is removed from the seat. What is left is the padding and the plywood structural frame (base and backs). The new vinyl is completely sewn as single piece. It is pulled over the seats and backs and the edges are stapled into the wooden backs and bases. Trim is also applied to cover the stretched and stapled skin. It's stapled with hidden staples to make the upholstered product look clean.

It takes a little practice and a lot of tugging and tweaking. It helps to have two people doing the job.

I had my skins made by Kim at canvas plus. They even included custom colors but using the original patterns. The guy at the local shop that installed them for me was supper impressed by the quality and the materials. Plus Kim was amazing and super helpful. Saved myself about $3000 below the quotes from the local shops and everything fit like a glove! I had her do all covers for all the seats (including the captains chair) in my Maxum 3500 scr and it looks amazing.

Oh. Heck that's not bad!
Post pic of new seat cover if you get a chance. Would love to see it.
I have some seams giving way. Figured I was SOL but this sounds promising.
Thanks!
