Default Mercruiser 7,4 mechanical fuel pump question

1998 Maxum 2800 scr
7.4 Mercruiser carbureted
Bravo 3

Seemed like a fuel pump failure after stall out and tow in. Fuel pump is original.
Pulled the pump today and the cavity which should be full of oil was full of fuel.
Retuned on nipple out of the fuel pump was plugged with gunk.
Got a new seirra pump but the centric that operates the pump arm seems wore out.
See YouTube video link

Questions are:
1. Judging by the video do I need a new pump assembly if this indicates the centric is wore out
2. Mercruise pump housing is $993. I don’t see a Sierra version. Is there an off brand that is recommended or one someone has luck with?
