Default Mercruiser 7,4 mechanical fuel pump question

1998 Maxum 2800 scr
7.4 Mercruiser carbureted
Bravo 3

Seemed like a fuel pump failure after stall out and tow in. Fuel pump is original.
Pulled the pump today and the cavity which should be full of oil was full of fuel.
Retuned on nipple out of the fuel pump was plugged with gunk.
Got a new seirra pump but the centric that operates the pump arm seems wore out.
See YouTube video link

Questions are:
1. Judging by the video do I need a new pump assembly if this indicates the centric is wore out
2. Mercruise pump housing is $993. I don’t see a Sierra version. Is there an off brand that is recommended or one someone has luck with?

Video link doesn’t work. I doubt an aftermarket pump of this design exists as Mercruiser only used it for a few years on the 454 blocks that were MPI auto versions. This engine was phased out and replaced by the 8.1.

Yes. The photo I showed is of an aftermarket pump. I got a sierra fuel pump so good there. This is the centric that drives the fuel pump. Works off a belt and also drives the impeller.

I installed the new pump. Started right up. Just not sure how loose that piece on the video can be.

Mercruiser manual #16 section 6A shows a slip ring which appears to go over the eccentric part of the pump shaft. Not sure if and or how much play there should be but I suspect yours is too much.

That’s my guess also.
Thanks for the info!

Let me know if it works with the old pump and if you decide to replace the pump.

I installed the fuel pump to see how it would run. Seemed totally fine but not sure I want to pushed it with that much play in the centric collar.
If I do change out the pulley assembly I’ll likely go with mercruise brand. $963 is crazy expensive but engine failure at the wrong time is a worse.

I prefer OEM parts myself.
