Maxum 2300sc with A 7.4L Mercruiser Engine.
Yesterday i went to Start my boat yesterday and it tumbled dead, i changed both batteries and then it started to only click.
Does any one has any advice on fixing this?
the last time it started it tumbled dead but it started. and that was about a month ago.

Hard to say but I would first have the batteriers load tested. Sounds like they are bad.

Ok you did not mention that.
So it cranks slow, correct?
Did you clean the battery connections, connections at the soleniods including the returns at the block?

It sounds like it was cranking ok, but stalled. Batteries were changed and now the engine isn't cranking at all. Instead there is just a loud click, even with new batteries. Is this correct?
A loud 'click' only would be getting power to the starting solenoid. I would initially guess starting solenoid based on the current problem description (i.e the 'click' at start). However, that would not cause the engine to stall. At the risk of assuming I understand the problem and two problems are related, this sounds like a ground issue.

What year? Have you looked under the Documents Tab of this site, many manuals there.

Have you tried the switches to see if they turn anything on?
A red switch would be either the fresh water pump of shower drain while the black switches will be for lights. Note the battery switch must be on as these are all 12V items.

Like said. Red switch is for water pressure pump. White switches are for lights.

Thanks for the info. Yesterday we went for a day out with the family. i was great, the boat ran smoothly.
I noticed however, that when we went to start in the morning it took quite a few tumbles before it started. I did prime twice before turning the engine.
is there some thing i'm not doing? I am a complete newbie to this boating stuff, learning as i go.
I also noticed the the speedometer not functioning and the trim gauge, can i buy any generic and replace?
Thanks for all the help thus far.

When boats sit the carbs bowl can go dry.
First crank the engine for up to 5 seconds.
Then prime with 2 strokes.
Then crank to start.
The speedometer is probably not work due to the tube being clogged on the front of the drive. It uses air pressure created but moving through the water. A small piece of wire inserted into the hole typically will clear it. Also check that the hose did not come off the drive.
The trim gauge issue is most likely due to broken wire on the sendor on the side of the drive, round puck.
