Default Maxum 1800 SR3 trim issue

So on the first ride with the boat I realized the trim was not working as expected. The trim gauge was stuck in DOWN position and the trim UP/DOWN worked intermediate.

Back at the port (after reading on the forum), I switched the trim button back and forward x number of times and it seems I got the trim UP/DOWN to work in both directions including needle movement UP/DOWN on the trim gauge.

My concern however is if this has only solved the issue temporarily or if the issue is due to a need to replace solenoids?

Most likely the solenoids are new end of life. Good news is that they are cheap by boating terms, ~$25 US.

I figured that. Is there a Part list documentation somewhere here on the forum or a OEM database people are using to find their replacements parts or compatible replacements of other brands?

I have looked through the documents I have and cannot find part numbers on these type of parts (solenoid, trim transducers etc.).

Go to this site and enter your engine serial number to look up part numbers.

Thanks, seems to be a lot of different replacement brands with different price ranges.
Are there any well known brands one should look for in general or avoid?

I typically use OEM parts or a aftermarket brand I know has good reviews for a particular product.

It's not even that complex. Just google "Mercruiser Trim solenoid". A lot of times they sell them in sets of two because there is one for up and one for down. I strongly recommend replacing in sets. This is a common item to need replacing.

Yep I realized that, i ordered a set yesterday. Also ordered the limit switch set just in case I run into problem with them in future. Seems pretty straight forward (thanks to youtube) to replace as well. But I know I will curse a couple of times due to the tight space were the trim pump solenoids are located
