Default Maxum 1800 SR exhaust Manifold query

Hi all
Our recent waterskiing trip ended abruptly last weekend due to the boat not starting. We have worked out that one exhaust manifold was corroded and failed leaking water into the head.
The boat is yr 2000 V6 $.3L 262cid.
I am now in search of new manifolds I live in Australia and can only seem to find replacements where the manifold and risers are sold separately. The original manifold is one piece? (photo attached) Is this the way to do it now?
Thanks in advance
Dean

Hi Dean. Yes the one piece is no longer available, you have two options which are either the wet joint or dry joint systems. The wet joint have been around as long as car engine have been used in boats but are when fail are prone to allowing water into the exhaust like your current issue. The dry joint keep water away from the exhaust joint. Only a total rust through would allow water into the exhaust. Note both can be bought as OEM and aftermarket.

Was the engine hydro-locked? IF so, how many times did you attempt to start it?

Hi Shrew
yes, mate I believe it was we tried a few times and heard some nasty clunking. Thinking the starter motor is now caput as well as we went to dry run it quickly just to turn it over and no luck
Have found out the manifold is an old system and no longer available, so we have to now change to manifold and separate riser configuration with an elbow to direct flow downwards.
Regards Deano

Deano, trying to start an engine that is hydro locked can result in internal damage such as bent rods. Have you removed the spark plugs to get the water out of the cylinders and put an oil product into the cylinders to prevent corrosion? How does the oil look, any signs of water?

Everything from stripping the Bendix gear on the starter to bending a connecting rod.
