Default Macum 41000 scb o. Asking opinions

Hello. I am about to buy a 4100 scb 1998. It has a pair 330 cummins diamond series. We went for a sea trial and we went with 15 kts crusing bur nor in plane and 20kts top speed.. is that normal?
Also tell me your opinion for this boat.
What is the fuel consumption and the right speed ro travel economic.
Thanks a lot

Hello, I'm about 7 months into the same boat / engines. 15 kts is easily on plane for me with trim tabs and 15-16 seems the most eco speed. I don't have a fuel flow meter so no actual numbers. The transition to Planing is very subtle on this boat and the bow drop is very gradual. I've never had it fall off plane on the back of a wave, etc so its clearly planing. Trim tabs are only slightly down. I would say my top is 22-24 kts but rarely max out the RPM. I like the boat with the exception of water that collects on the front corner of the bridge deck when it rains. I don't have a generator which would weight down the stern and eliminate the water.

Hello. Thanks for the reply. I notice exactly the same problem with the water on the flybridge.
Are you happy with the boat.? The quality of the polyester is good etc?

Have same engines on 4100 SCA, last year motored from Alameda to Long Beach @ 2600-2800 rpm, 15 kts, burn rate was 19gph total (9.5 per engine). These engines are very good, only issues in the last year were with peripherals (alternators and turbos).

Yes, 15-18kts would be about normal. It is a very large boat. If you were up to 20kts, you were on plane.

Fule Burn Rate on the Cummins QSB 5.9 (330):

NOTE: Ignore the 'speed' column, that will be dependent on the hull shape and vessel weight. Focus on the fuel burn by RPM, that is a static value.
