Default Looking for advice

The newbee to the boating community needs some advice. I have recently purchased an 1800 sr3 and I'm looking to purchase an anchor. What type and size of anchor should I buy? Mainly inshore and coastal waters.

I would think a 9# Danforth with about 12' of chain would hold you well enough.

Hsb welcome aboard.

What type of bottom; sand, muck, rocky,...?

I believe Boating Magizine and or boatus just did an article on this and the danforth came out on top but if I recall test grounds were mainly sandy/muck.

Mmwjr

I'll look up the article.

It's mainly going to be rocky bottom and shoreline.

From what I have read a cqr will do better on a rocky bottom.
