Default Isinglass help

Hey guys. So was real happy with the new leta top I put on last year. This year, the plastic is so cloudy. It feels rough. I think they bottom sanded a boat next to me and that dust sat on it all winter.
I bought meguiars plastix and started using that. It cleans the glass and makes it smooth, but it’s still cloudy. What can you guys recommend?

Do you know what brand the plastic is? If so contact the manufacture and ask them.

You left the windows up all winter?

I don’t know. Leta made it.
Yes, I don’t have any other cover. Didn’t think I had to coat them the first year...

That is way too much haze for a single season. I would expect the isinglass to look like that after a decade. Simply leaving it up for the winter alone wouldn't have done that. Dod you get snow and ice in your area over the winter?

Ideally, you should take down your canvas and isinglass and cover the boat over the winter. There are a myriad of isinglass polishes. Note that there are cleaners and polishes. you need a polish and you need to work it like your waxing a car or the boat.

Flintz and a buff ball actually works pretty well.

Cool. I’ll see what Leta says and look into that aura after.

Good luck.
Everybody say, need some elbow grease to get that to work, but works great.
Here is another great product:

If properly maintained, they last a lot longer than 10 years.

Here's a picture of original 1990 canvas with crystal clear Eisenglass. Always cleaned with the manufacturer's recommended 303 Protectant, and the canvas sealed each year with 303 Fabric treatment. Always carefully rolled up in bedsheets when sleeping for the winter.

Well that stuff came. Spent some time on just one spot and no improvement... Plastic is sticky, like it’s chemically degrading or something. Even if I wash it with soap and water, still sticky after.
Leta had someone reply that said Imar Stratglass cleaner and if that doesn’t work, plastic may be not be repairable....
I wonder if the boat yard got something on it over the winter.

If they did it will be pretty hard to prove anything now. Did you ever confront them?

It sounds like it's not ON the Isinglass, but rather it has broken down the material. Like when you get Deet on plastic and it turns to goo. You would need to remove the soft material and get down to the solid material below it and then polish that. did someone clean the isinglass for you over the winter and use an unexpected solvent?

There is a high probability you're going to need to replace.

Ha, no one cleans anything for me! Maybe Leta just used crappy plastic and I didn’t protect it.

Default Iglas

Take them down to an upholstery and have them sew in new glass. It's not expensive at all.
