Default Information

hey guys,

I am looking at buying a 97 2800SCR. It is powered with a 5.7MPI. What are the pros & cons of this boat? I was told that even with the 5.7 it is under powered and will suck gas. I live in Orlando, Florida and looking to take trips to the keys and Bimini. I just don't want to get stuck. The boat does need work more cosmetic than anything. I have not sea trialed it yet as tide was out and couldn't get the minimum 3 feet from where it is docked at. It sits on a boat lift. Just want to make sure that I am not making a mistake lol Also what do you think might a good price? Unknown hours on the motor but the owner said new belts, water pump, impeller etc. When running the motor it was not all the way down and had the fresh water washout running. The temp and oil pressure were great the right riser stayed cool while the left got warm the entire time. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Most of these came with a single 7.4 and people thought it was minimal power. What outdrive is it equipped with? If a Bravo 3 it may be ok but you need to take it out with a few folks onboard to see what you think.

Thanks so much for replying so fast. I believe it is a Bravo 2. I was told that with the size of it that it is really under powered with the 5.7. They say it will work but it will suck quite a bit more fuel. I love the Maxum's and their roominess to them.

Everyone has different expectations based on their style of boating, I say take it out and make your own judgment.
