How to tell what year
Hello,
So I just purchased a 'new to me' Maxxum 1700 SR
Couple of questions-
How do I tell what year it is? I am told its a 1999 but how can I know for sure?
Reason for question- I don't really care what the exact year is, however...
Im trying to buy a Bimini top for it from various sources online and the drop-down menu when you are selection year has 1998 listed on its own. IE- it gives option for 93-97, then 1998 is alone as option, then '1999 and newer'
Im worried about buying the wrong Bimini top.
Also- any advice on what material/brand/style of bimini top I should purchase? Is there a reputable online dealer i should be buying from? Also, I want it made asap as Im on the water daily for the next couple weeks and its hot up here in Christina Lake British Columbia! Thanks in advance to everyone, enjoy your summer !

Last two digits of HIN are 98 so it's a 1998

is that a universal thing or just a Maxxum boats thing? So its not a built in 1998, but a 1999 model correct? Just triple checking here. Thank you for the reply.
Best,
-Andrew

Standard identifier.
The boat is a 1998 not a 1999.

Thanks to everyone on this thread. This is such a great forum for my journey back into boat ownership after a 20 year hiatus.

Your boat is a Model Year 1999, manufactured in July of 1997.
USJA93NBG798
USJ = Bayliner (Maxum manufactured in a Bayliner plant)
A93NB = Serial Number
G7 = Manufactured July 1997
98 = Model Year of Vessel

You mean my model year is 1998, correct? You stated 1999 but your breakdown of the serial # (very informative and thank you) states model year of vessel = 1998.
Please clarify when you can.
Thank you,
-Andrew

The serial number should be longer than 4 characters but it does appear to be an '89.

What is the entire HIN number? The last two digits are the year so it appears to be a 2005 from what you said.
