Default how does an alternator charge a battery

Hello again,
I've traced out the electrical configuration on my boat, I have a bit of work to do to configure it correctly but I now know that both the bilge pumps and the Mercathodes are drawing from the batteries all the time as they should. I am having a problem figuring out how the alternators are charging the batteries (1 or both). Can anyone shed some light on this.

Thanks

Jacques

The voltage-regulator or boat-regulator, and not the high-amp-alternator output size is the key to all alternator charging systems.
