in my harbour (Drimmelen/Netherlands) there was allways a long waiting list.
this year there were a lot of open places (30%) and even more boats with "for sale" signs on them
even a lot of boat builders are bankrupt or yust holding on
boating is getting a bit lonely
the other side is that it's nice and calm on the water
how are things in the states ?
Rens it is hit and miss over here. I live in the very conservative midwest and still our marina was full this year. If these freckin idiots in congress can get this fiscal cliff BS taken care off, I think the economy would take off IMHO
I'm in the Northeast, surprisingly this past season, marinas were full, hardly any boats for sale. There is usually a couple in my area for sale around this time every year, haven't seen any yet.
My home lake (Lake Powell) is as busy as ever. The house boats don't go as far up lake as they use to due to fuel cost but the lake is busy.
On a side note... I'm planning a BASE trip to Norway for next summer and planned to visit Amsterdam on the return leg. Maybe I could hit you up for some local beta on day trips before I go.

i'm living near the south border to belgium
that's about 1,5 hours drive from Amsterdam
believe me
you wont want to go to the south when you can stroll around The red light district, get a reefer in a koffeeshop and have a trip in a boat travelling through the "grachten".
