Trying to get a 2000 SR3 started after sitting for 2 years. Full charge on the battery but and all I am getting is a buzzer when turning key. I am not familiar with this boat so am I missing anything? Is there something else I need to do to get the engine to turn?
Two things to check one confirm that the shifter is in neutral I've had to play with mine a little bit after sitting for a while and the second thing you can try is turning the key to start and let go and keep doing that quickly a couple of times. There is a little component on the top of the engine that starts to go and causes that same problem. My 3200SCR was doing that and I had to play with the ignition.
make sure you're in neutral. Seems silly but I was stuck at the dock for an hour one morning with and outboard before I realized it.
check connections at battery and at starter. possible corrosion around connections.
the buzzer is normal at start up. that's your warning if it overheats or low on fluids. the buzzer goes off after it starts.
if you get power at starter and it's not turning over then the starter may be bad.
make sure the key doesn't need a lanyard. some have a clip that shuts down the engine. it's supposed to be attached to the drivers wrist in case you're thrown overboard it will stop the engine. Most people take off the "rope" and leave the clip in place.

I have checked and rechecked and it is in neutral. I know some boats you have to pull out the knob under the throttle but it doesn't seam this one does that.
It may be the starter. Is the easiest way to check using a volt meter?
You need to push in on the button to disengage the shift cable and only be advancing the throttle.
Do you mean the drive trim is not working? Up and down?
The trim is directly wired to the battery so it has nothing to do with the starting issue.
Using a volt meter I would first verify you have power at the engine breaker, both terminals. Then check for power at the slave solenoid when cranking on terminal that goes to the starter. After that test at the starter.
Button is pushed in and still just a click. I see the main engine breaker and will test it. Is there a diagram of the electrical system anywhere I can download or view?
Also yes the trim will not move. I just get a click there also.
if it's a problem with the starter it can hit it with a hammer both on the solenoid and starter casing. Often times it will turn over and let u know if that's the problem.
