Greeting
I am a new Maxum Owner! I just purchased a 2003 Maxum 2400 SR. A friend of mine has one similar and I fell in love with the Layout! The boat only had 40hrs on it however, I needed a Carburetor overhaul because it would not stay on in Neutral. Got that done now the boat runs perfectly! I!m happy!!!

On our boat, the person who buys the beer is either the person who takes the LAST beer, or the Last Person to say "Not It", when some variation of the following is said "Hey, it's looks like we're gonna need more beer soon".

Hey Guys .. I know its been a few years but at the time i posted this my computer crashed. I couldn't remember the sites name and gave up. I was doing some searches and the site came up! YAY.
So I need to bring you all up to speed! So I got the overhaul done because the first time I took the boat out it stalled! (Boooooo) Tried everything to get it started and nada, had to get towed in!
Carburetor fixed. Last year 2015, July 4th to be exact. The boat did the same thing stalled and wouldn't turn over. What happened each time was, I was cruising the lake and notice a rapid change in depth. Go to avoid it with a quick maneuver and stall. It would not crank again.
So my wife says, (on this outing), is that red lever suppose to be down but the gear. No and the boat fires up and act to boating.
Light Bulb Light Bulb,,,,, DING DING DING. I had my carburetor over hauled do to a boat OPERATOR Error!
I always drive with the safety click on just in case. I am 1 million percent sure thats what happened the first time. I could have saved myself 700.00. You live and you learn!

Glad you figured that it was the safety switch being tripped.

It's a 13 year old carb. more than likely designed and manufacturer prior to widespread use of ethanol in the marine industry. If it wasn't ready, I'm sure you were getting close to needing a carb rebuild anyway.

Boaters desires to get a boat 2 feet longer than what you have.
