Default gimbal bearing

how do you tell the gimbal bearing is u/s?. :?
i have a odd noise. out of gear .and seem to be a lot more when i put it in gear. :? .looks like i need to pull it out. :shock:

It may be the gimbal and/or the u-joint. Neither part is expensive, just labor. (lot if it too).

They were both "changed" when I purchased my boat. I don't trust the mechanic. I did not pay him and the previous owner had the work done. I still have a vibration especially when I turn right. I did pull the outdrive off and check the alignment. It was perfect. The u-joint looks new but I don't know what else would be causing the noise. Good luck. I think the parts were about $200 and the labor was $800. I hope it last through this summer and I will swap them out next winter myself.

this weekend i will put my 23p prop back on to try. its also got that vibration.

went out and the engine locked up.oil psi 45.temp 160,can the drive do this?.

its the drive.seized :? .

now how can it do that ?.got oil in it .


and now is a good time to find out what ratio i need for top end speed
