Default Generator Installation

I'm looking to install a generator on my 2700 SCR. Has anyone here installed a generator before and can you give me some direction such as brand, KW rating and genset tips?

Default genny

I have the same model boat...2700scr...I have the westerbeke 4.5 genny mounted on the port side..plenty of pwr for the boat along with the ac..it all works great...
mine is smooth and quiet....make sure you have the water muffler installed....the westerbekes are 99% clean burning and smooth and quiet...no sound box needed.....
hope this helps....anything bigger probably would be cost prohibitive....hope this helps....

Default Generator

Thanks. Any idea on how much I should expect to spend? I'm pretty mechanically inclined. Should I tackle the install myself?

Default the genny looks like an easy install

the hard part is drilling the holes for the exhaust and the water inlet along with the strainer...then you have to mount the starter panel inside in the salon...the real hard part is hooking the shore pwr panel to the genny pwr supply.and running the cable......I'm not sure how you hook that one up..an electrician might need to install that part.....I have a pic of the genny if you send me an email....

it probably runs about 4 grand to get the unit and install it..provided you do alot of the work except the electrical.......
