Default Gel Color for 2001 4600?

Anyone have a link, color code or tips for getting a premixed can of Gelcoat? I'd rather get an OEM premix then trying to match it myself.

I was hoping Spectrum could do it but Maxum isn't on their premix listing.

Realize your boat is 20 years old. Even if you had an OEM premix it probably wouldn't match due to 20 years of fading in the sun. A pro can match it perfectly.

I dont believe GelCoat fades... It def gets UV oxidation on its top coat, but a buffing usually brings out the true color.

However, I do seem to recall really old boats usually having a tired yellow look to them...

Any other takers on "Does Gel Coat Fade" vote? (=

Believe what you want. I know first hand. I good friend has done repairs on a couple of my boats including my 4600 and color matching is always required. Even on different areas of the boat. That is if you want the work to look perfect.

Its all good either way. Not denying it does fad. I did autobody for a few years so I know paint fades, I was just more under the impression that gelcoat is alot more UV resistant.

I've heard lots of success with premixed stuff from Spectrum.
