Default Faulty Horn - Maxum 3000scr

The horn on my 3000scr has pack up. I stripped it down and found the vibration plate rusted through.

I'd like to replace the whole horn with an OEM like for like model. Does anyone know who either made the original or where I can get one from.

The horn is fitted to the middle top of the radar arch. The actual horn is mounted inside a black plastic profiled cover which has also been damaged. Ideally I'd like to replace the horn and the cover. I expect they would come complete anyway. Please see photos of the faulty horn.

Thanks for reading and hopefully someone will come up with the right info.

Is that an OEM horn to begin with? I thought the 3000 SCR had the horn up in the anchor locker with a small oval shaped sound port. That is how the 2400, 2700, 2800 are all configured. That looks like an internal electric horn with some kind of shield on it.

I don't recall seeing one on an arch before, but it's certainly possible.

Where have you been Shrew? That's it mate! West Marine, Defender has them . I had one of those on my 01 3000 but I put a single trumpet back on mine...to each their own...

Standard location on the 3000 is on the arch.
Replaced mine with trumpets too. OEM was way too weak to be useful

Hi Shrew. Yep its from the original location to the best of my knowledge. There's nothing down by the anchor chain locker.

Notice I didn't make a 'statement', but rather asked questions. It seems you've all read a bit too deeply into the question.

Those are distributors not manufactures. A common manufacture is AFI. Finding a exact replacement for a 10+ year old item has low probability but you can find something close.

My 2400 is on the deck in its original location, nothing in the anchor locker area. Must be a Canadian thing. :P

Sorry ..didn't mean to throw you under the bus so to speak Darren... This has been a few years ago that I did this. I didn't think what you had was much of a horn for volume and that is why I changed to a trumpet style horn to get something up on my arch that was louder.

Darren You know that you have to save the outer shell and the new horn goes inside the old plastic casing.... if you go that route?

Look on the casing for a manufacturers name or a number and try googling it. Maybe that exact style has been discontinued. There are still the compact styles still available.

Hope this helps..

The grill is on the port side deck but the access to the wires and mounting hardware is from the anchor locker. At least on every 2400 I have seen in North America.

I have not seen your boat

Guess I should refine my viewing area to Maryland.

That's a trumpet horn, doubt it was installed by the factory. See picture for mine.

Hi Mike
I do not have the hole in the front of my boat where you horn is at and all the wiring is under the headliner.
I have the original sales literature that shows the horn in that location on the fore deck.
I think it was 96 or 97 that the manufactures started using the hidden style horns, but I could be wrong (has happened before)
