Engine Housing 1988 Maxum 2000

Hello
The wood/carpet housing ? in front of the engine is missing on my 1988 Maxum 2000, 5.0 L/LX Engine, I'm looking to make one does anybody have any thoughts or information that would help me ? I didn't know if the housing has any special requirements such as needs to be able to let air into the engine cavity, needs to be insulated for heat and sound, Etc...

I contacted Maxum and they actually had a brochure of my boat and sent it to me along with some other articles they had. the brochure had a picture of the rear console in it so at least I would know what it looks like, Now to build one !

I would make one from fibre glass. Easy to work with and light and strong.
