Default Electrical Questions

Just trying to see how different systems and sitting/sleeping areas setup. Found a 110 outlet in bow side of the engine compartment with a cord (unplugged) running back behind the motors, trying to figure out what it is. As an example, never had 2 shore power connectors. Plugged shore power into inlet 2 and got a red light on the panel. Found out on this forum that line 2 is for AC/Heat, and if you don't have them don't use line 2. Would have saved some aggravation had I had a manual.

A 110 VAC outlet in the engine compartment is not OEM so it will not be in any manual. Line 1 handles all power except air conditioning/ heat which is reserved for line 2 if you have that option. The wiring diagram in the supplemental manual shows this.

The outlet in the engine compartment is more than likely for a battery charger. Some battery chargers came with a 120VAC plug, so it would get wired with an outdoor (grey) surface mounted utility box and a GFCI outlet. My 1997 2800 was like this.

Shorepower should be either 1 or 2 x 30 amp with 3 male plugs. If you have 2 main breakers on your 120VAC panel, then there will be 2 shore power inlets. They will not be in the engine compartment, they will be on the exterior of the boat and usually have a white, square hinged lid.

Default Engine compartment outlet

Traced the plug back behind the port motor. Found it to be heat tape wrapped around swim platform shower hot water line.
