Dumping of waste
Guys help me out here if you can, 3500 SCR when trying to dump the waste to sea (in the allowed area) do you have to be moving? Also is it only the 2 switches at the helm?, sorry only ever pumped out

I am not an expert here but is your boat equiped with the system for overboard discharge. Maxum installed the switchs as stock but the rest of the system (pump, diverter valve) was an option. Also before pressing both switches simultaneously you must switch the diverter valve from the holding tank position to overboard. See link for what the valve should look like.

I don't think theboat needs to be under way when discharging but I would move right after, don't want to swim in your own poo

The reason you must hit the two switches simultaneously is in case you hit one by accident, you won't Dave Mathews your friends and boat neighbors in the water.

No, you don't need to be moving, but that is kinda like 'growling' one out in the bathtub. I don't want to be sitting in it either. I have dumped rarely, and only legally. When I do, I drop down to around 4-6 kts. It discharges like a bilge pump or an AC unit.......only not clear. Plus at slow speeds I can have someone confirm when it stops discharging. I can't see the discharge through hull from the helm.

Thanks guys mine discharges under the boat so I can't see anything, underway I can't hear any change in the pump noise to let me know its finished the only way I can tell is by smell, again thhe problem with that is not knowing when empty and the other day I tried it stationary and could not see evidence of pumping at all so now I have to check the pumps duck bill valves as it is turning just not pumping - thanks guys

Well if you get the sytem working try not to use it to often hate for you to pollute that beautiful water there.

If it's below the waterline then i would expect it have a seacock. Though many freshwater boats are required to put a shut off to prevent discharge as well. though that is a freshwater thing. Mine doesn't have one.

It does have a seacock, the thing is I have been always using a suction unit at my marina, recently moved to a new marina that does not have one (@easter) so could not suction out after the long stay, so on the next outing I went to sea to pump out, and nothing happened, tried it moving and stationary, nothing, checked the tank and its 3/4 full, so I got the duck bill valves replaced and the guy sent me a text saying the pumps working and all tested ok, so again I went to sea to dump and nothing, both stationary and moving so I gave up and came back into the marina, went back down to the tank and ...... It was empty, turns out the guy who changed the valves used a mobile unit to remove the waste, so I have been trying to pump nothing so will now have to wait and see how it works later, thanks for the info
