dock whips and standoffs

has anyone used whips or standoffs to keep the boat off the dock 8" -12" I have lots of dock protection fenders etc but the fools come in the marina fast and large wakes follow therefore fender rub marks any ideas for stand offs thanks

are you using spring lines???...I don't use stand offs....never have..

yes I do use spring lines some of these guys come in on a plane and rock the boat hard on the dock so I thought stand offs would save the boat finish ????????? thanks
