Unhappy Damage to hull?

I have a 93 maxum 1800 sr.

i noticed the front v-hull had some damage to it. im going to assume the previous owner banked it one too many or hit rocks.

It looks like the factory fiberglass protector is ripped off. hard to tell. i havent water tested it. by looking at it doesnt appear to have actually torn thru the boat.

curious if any of you fellas know whats going on. i dont have any pics at the moment. but its nasty looking.

Welcome aboard!

Not sure what fiberglass protector you are talking about other than the rub rail, anything else would not be OEM. Pictures would definitely help.

Yes it’s hard to see the extent of the damage. From the factory this area would just be gelcoat. Looks like someone installed a keelguard like material. If so and it’s beat up remove it repair any expose fiberglass and install a new keelguard.

Can't tell from the pic, but as stated, there is no 'protective' piece installed on the keel from the factory. beaching a boat will grind away gel coat. A keel guard can be installed to prevent such damage when beaching.

Also check to make sure the keel is not impacting the trailer when being loaded.
