Default Cut The Anchor!

I did a bone-head move and forgot to raise my anchor. I had to cut it because there was no way to backtrack and try to get it...way too crowded.

Anyway, I see West marine has a 13 pound anchor with 15 feet of 1/4" chain and 7/16 line. Will this work on my Lewmar windlass on a 2002 2700 SCR?

I hope this is one of those you make 1 time only.

Thanks All.

Yep, I was sober. That's why it was so stupid. I turned the blower on, started the motor and the next thing I knew the ropes were thrown off (tied up to somebody). I had a guy on the front that's been on the boat many many times. I figured he pulled the anchor.

Now I know, you can't count on anyone but yourself.

The anchor type is based on the type of seafloor you most commonly anchor in. The anchor weight is dictated by the size and weight of the boat. The size of chain and line is dictated by the make and model of the windlass.

1) What is the make and model of your windlass?

2) What is the type of anchor you are looking at? also, what is the anchor made of?

Personally, I think you'd be better off with 5/16th chain and 1/2" line. I'd also put as much chain as there are ft in the boat. On my 2800 SCR, I'm using 30ft. of 5/16th chain and 200 ft. of 1/2" line. I have a 25 lb Manson Supreme anchor that recently replaced a 22.05 lb Rocna.
