Just purchased a 2006 1900sr with 5.0l merc. Want to use mainly as towing people for wake boarding and playing on tubes. Not too concerned with top speed(which at this time is around 43mph on speedo and gps) at approximately 4100 rpm, which seems low for wot. The prop that is on the boat now is 14.25x21x3. Wondering if this is the stock prop? Haven't had a boat in a while but last one was Malibu sunsetter. I know there is a big difference between the two, and the way they act/ride. Was thinking of trying either a 14.25x19 or 14.5x19. Was also wondering if I should drop down to 14.5 x17(or is that too big a jump). Which would you guys suggest for quicker hole shot? Boat seems to take a long time to get on plane guessing about 6-7 seconds is this normal for this type boat? Input would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks.. (First time poster and new to site).
Thanks for reply mmwjr. I have checked out the mercruiser site and they refer to several different types and sizes. I guess I was wondering if anybody has same type or similar boat and what size works for them, as far as pulling skiers/ wake boarders. Stock size prop really isn't a concern was just wondering if what I had was stock. Ultimately just want a prop for acceleration/ good pulling power and not have to worry about hitting excessive rpm when at wot.
If pulling, consider a 4 blade prop. Merc calculator recommended a 4 blade that is smaller diameter than what came on the boat and it works well for us. I'd love a stainless prop, but our launch site requires cross a shallow area which took out the original and aluminum may be safer for the drivetrain.

Yeah mike thx bud.. Now looked in the sport boat section ... See similar boats out ther talking about prop sizes.. Will see this spring if I can find a place that will let me try out a couple. And thx home grown.. Will lean towards a 4 blade for first trial��������..
Just got it last fall, took it out 3 times.. First time took getting used to, since my old boat was a sunsetter inboard and not having to deal with trim. After getting used to trim found just a little up from all the way trimmed down got me on plane quicker but still too slow for my liking. Once up to speed and trimmed out had porpoising effect, so had to trim back down a bit.. Found top speed to be at about 43mph. so far I like the boat. I think keeping same around same size and dropping down from a 21 to a 19 should put me at a better rpm range. My current wot is around 4100.. And I think on this boat should be 4400- 4800.. so in turn I'm hoping I get more pop out the hole and may keep same or close top speed with higher rpm.. Am I thinking right? Been trying to research a little.
Yep sounds like you are on the right track. Several folks have added smart tabs to this size boat and seen an improvement on time to plane. There are posts in the sports boat section on this.
